Living Truthfully

Sanford Meisner said that acting is the ability to live truthfully in an imaginary circumstance. I agree. I also believe that can be applied to life. I love theatre because it is so applicable to life. Even Shakespeare said "To hold as it were, a mirror up to nature." I'm an actor not for the glory of the spotlight, but for the story I tell on the stage. What we perform in front of the audience is a mirror of humanity today as we see it. Sometimes it's dirty, ugly and hard to swallow - but it's raw honesty. And when performed in full belief, it is a very beautiful thing. I know I'm in the most practical major and I know I'm not going to make a lot of money in my career; but that's not the point. I'm in it for the love of my art. Human beings fascinate me and when I'm playing on stage is when I get to explore every kind of human tendency. Being on stage is the most freeing feeling because it is the time to let all inhibitions go and live truthfully 110% in the given circumstance of the character. It's certainly not easy. It takes discipline to leave your baggage at the door. It takes guts to explore the deepest of humanities problem and feelings and then portray them as honestly as you can. But it's the most amazing feeling when you do. You see the world through your characters eyes; you get a different perspective on life and the value of it. Seeing that gives you a deeper and greater understanding and respect for all people and cultures. This is why I do what I do, and love it. Besides, who doesn't love this view?

Sister's are fun buddies

Since I've lived in Logan I've lived near my sister and see her just about every other day. Sometimes I find myself going through withdrawals because I haven't seen her in the past 24 hours. But we didn't always used to be this close. When we were little it was the usuall big sister vs. little sister deal and I will admit, I was the perfect annoying little sister. We fought like normal sisters so but when she moved out for college I realized just how much my life revolved around her. I think we've both reached a mutual understanding regarding our realtionship. First, we are stuck with each other because we've tried on and off for 21 years to rid ourselves of one another and we have yet to succeed. Secondly, we get tired or arguing all the time and would rather set our difference aside to enjoy our time together. Thirdly, we are perfect together just the way we are. She is herself, and I am me. We are so alike and at the same time so different. And together we are pretty funny. I find myself wanting to be with my sister because of her unconditional love and acceptance, no matter what stupid thing I think of to do next. She understands me, and even if she may not at the time, she makes me feel better by loving me anyway. She's been with me through the worst and loved me through the best. It's taken me the better part of my life to come to really know and understand my big sis, and I love her all the more for it. Sister's are fun and I pity anyone who has the misfortune of not having one as neat as mine.

From Paris with LOVE

Here are some very important facts I learned while my stay in Paris:

1. JET LAG KILLS!!!
2. French men have great taste in shoes.
3. French babies are super fashionable. Weird, but cute.
4. Try not to lock yourself out of your luggage. Unless you are traveling with someone who can pick locks. Phew!
5. It doesn't matter if you can't speak the language if you're a cute girl, you'll just be offered free drinks......haha
6. Even if you're terrified of heights, climbing to the top of the Eiffle tower is SO worth it.
7. The French apparently don't believe in air conditioning.
8. Make sure you're with someone who has a map and a watch.
9. Don't confuse spanish "Si" with french "Wi" or else you'll get funny looks.
10. Be prepared to have sore feet at the end of the day because you walk EVERY WHERE.

Happy Janice Terry Day

Today is Janice Terry's birthday and she is one of my bestest besties. In honor of her 21st birth I want to enlighten you all with the story of how we met and yes, it's one of my favorites so I tell it a lot.

It all began when my family moved to Willard 17 years ago. It was our first Sunday in the new ward and as we were walking in I saw Janice and her family hanging uo their jackets. Janice had on a pretty pink dress and I remember thinking, "Oooo pretty dress! I want to be friends with her!" Then my mother proceeded to drop me off in primary and I instantly started bawling when she walked away. I remember sitting on the teachers lap crying, with Janice sitting next to me holding my hand and saying, "It's ok, don't cry. I'll be your friend." BAM!! Instant new best friend and it's been wonderful ever since! Cheers :)

It's In The Script

I have a theory. Just like an actor has a script for the stage, we as humans have a script for life. Everyone's is different and personal, but it's how we live our lives and what we live by. Sometimes life happens and the script gets edited or even erased. But that's ok because it's in the script. Other times we may not understand the blocking or stage directions given to us in the script, but again it's ok. Even though at that time we can't see the bigger picture, it's apart of the journey that gets us to the grand finale and the final curtain. And trust me, it's worth all the risk.

This is my script: 1st Cor. 10:13. Everything in my life has come back to this scripture and it never ceases to amaze me how true it is. I may not understand why or how life is, but I know that no matter what, as long as I trust in the author of my script, I will be ok. I will be free. Because it's in the script.
